Ivybridge Table Tennis Club

What to expect on your first visit to the club

.
Trying out a new club for the first time, even if you have played Table Tennis before, can always be a little bit daunting. But rest assured we at Ivybridge Table Tennis club are always welcoming to everyone, what ever age and ability. We are very kean to welcome new players to the game.

Firstly your first night at the club is Free - We hope you come back again, and we will gladly take your money on your repeat visits!

We have compiled a few FAQ's below.

  • Clothing - What should I wear? It is entirely up to you, please bear in mind we are playing a sport, so suitable Footwear is essential*, but apart form that we do not have a club dress code. Most people tend to wear shorts/Tracksuit bottoms, and a loose fitting t-Shirt; but if you turn up in Jeans and a Jumper you will still get a game.
  • What are the rules of the game - there is no need to learn the full rules just yet, here is a very handy quick guide.
  • Equipment - Do I have to own a bat before coming to play? - No, the club has a selection of loan bats if required, the same goes for Balls. Of course if you have your own equipment, please bring it along, but I would never advise purchasing new until you have tried the club and know your style of play
  • Do I have to pre-book - That is not required, just turn up and play
  • What information do you require from me - we will ask you to complete a Membership Form 2023-24 (as .xls or a .pdf) - We will not process this information until your second visit. We use the information to update the clubs entry on the TTE Database (The more players we have the better the club looks!), and to keep you informed.
  • How do I know the club is open - Please check our main web page, any upcoming closures are in the Yellow box to the top of the screen
  • Is there an annual membership available - No, we operate a 'Pay per Session' Basis.
  • Is coaching available - Yes, we operate an informal coaching structure at the moment please speak to Alan or Ian
  • How do the club keep me informed? - We prefer to use WhatsApp, however we also use Email and regular updates on our club Facebook page and this website
  • How do I find you - Click Here for Directions

*Suitable Footwear: Trainers, Plimsolls, Squash Shoes i.e Flat Bottoms, secure fitting, good floor grip, free from any trips hazards. We are a fully inclusive club, and if you prefer to play using a wheelchair then the choice of Suitable Footwear is entirely yours.
